Our Programs
Job Prep Workshop
The Job Prep Workshop is a peer-led program providing guidance and support for individuals in mental health recovery. It covers various aspects of job preparation, including job application completion, resume writing, interviewing skills, time management, workplace conflict management, goal setting, addressing gaps in employment, guidance on obtaining employment documents, and networking strategies. Our workshop empowers individuals in recovery to navigate the job market with confidence and success. By offering a holistic approach to job preparation, we equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively fill out job applications, utilize relevant websites, craft compelling resumes, excel in interviews, manage their time effectively, resolve workplace conflicts, set meaningful goals, address employment gaps, and build strong professional networks.
Community Wellness
The BCCH organizes a variety of events and anyone can join us for wellness activities like Narcan training sessions, trivia contests, open mic nights, and board games. In the future we hope to host 12 Step Fellowships, SMART Recovery meetings, talent shows, art exhibitions, speed dating, book clubs, Wrestlemania watch parties, and more. The Community Wellness Program at BCCH provides substantial value by addressing the holistic needs of individuals in recovery from mental health conditions. According to SAMHSA's 10 Guiding Principles of Recovery, recovery is a comprehensive process that encompasses creativity, social networks, and community participation. Wellness is more than just the absence of disease or addiction; it involves addressing emotional, social, and intellectual well-being. By holistically addressing these needs, our program encourages healthier lifestyle choices and empowers individuals to engage in wellness and community-building activities.
Additionally, our approach aligns with the concept of recovery capital, which encompasses the internal and external resources that support individuals in sustaining their recovery. Positive family, social, and community recovery capital includes supportive relationships with peers in recovery, access to recovery-related social events, and participation in peer-led mutual support groups (Pennelle, 2019). Research has shown that various social activities, both indoor and outdoor, positively impact individuals' mood and self-esteem. Strategies targeting family and community recovery capital not only enhance long-term recovery outcomes but also improve the quality of life for individuals and their families (White & White, 2008; Barton et al., 2012)
Come see us every other Saturday until October at the NEW Lawndale Community Farmer's Market to receive mental health community resources and Narcan training!

Job Training Program
The BCCH's Job Training program will provide comprehensive training in a coffee house setting, covering both front and back of the house responsibilities as well as essential hard and soft job skills for employment across different sectors. The Job Training Program at BCCH provides several valuable benefits. Employment serves as a coping skill, enabling individuals to expand their support networks, structure their daily lives, and rebuild their resumes. Moreover, the coffee industry is expected to experience above-average growth in the next eight years, offering participants a promising field to pursue (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2022). Sustained employment has been associated with reduced healthcare costs, increased self-esteem, and overall satisfaction (Yildiz, 2015). Furthermore, research indicates that gainful employment significantly contributes to reduced instances of relapse, decreased criminal activity, improved quality of life, and successful community reintegration post-treatment (SAMHSA, 2021; Mueser et al., 2011).
