Rose is a counselor, artist, and individual in long term recovery. She is certified through the state of Illinois as a substance use counselor and recovery support specialist and has spent the last 10 years working with individuals in recovery from mental health conditions on the north and west sides of Chicago. This is where she saw the great need for job skills training and sober recreational activities that will be offered at The Black Cat Coffee House. She also serves as a Board Member of the NAMI Illinois Alliance of Peer Professional. Rose believes that a sense of belonging and opportunities to make meaning out of one’s life play a vital role in recovery. Her greatest accomplishment is having the opportunity to address the roadblocks to recovery that have greatly affected clients, as well as, loved ones. The Black Cat Coffee House is a culmination of personal and professional goals and is named after her first cat, Kitty.
